Delhi: Class 10, 12 board exams begin today
As board exams begin today, Delhi region has the highest number of students appearing for Class 12 boards at 2.58 lakh.Board exams 2017 Updated: Mar 17, 2017 16:21 IST
As many as 10.98 lakh students across the country will write the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 examination this year, which begins on Thursday. The number of students are up by 2.82% compared to last year.
Of the total students, 6.38 lakh are boys and 4.60 lakh are girls.
Class 10 board and school examination will also begin on Thursday. For the school exams, there are 7.81 lakh aspirants while 8.86 lakh will write board exam. This will be the last year when Class 10 students will write school exams. Last year, there were 7.33 lakh students wrote school exams for Class 10. The number of board aspirants was 7.66 lakh.
Class 12 students will write their English exam first. For Class 10 students, it will be Information Technology, Automobile Technology and other vocational subjects.
The Delhi region has the highest number of students appearing for Class 12 boards at 2.58 lakh. Similarly, for those writing the Class 10 examination, more students have opted for school examination (2.38 lakh) compared to board exams (1.33 lakh).
Students with disability in Class 12 boards are 2,497 while same for Class 10 is 4,275.
The board has appointed full-time observers at sensitive centres. Centre Superintendent(s) have been asked to approach the local police for ensuring safety of the place where question papers are kept and law and order is maintained at examination centres.
The board has also launched an exam locater app through which students and parents can conveniently locate the examination centres.
