A 22-year-old man has been arrested for murdering a Delhi Police constable in May 2012, police said on Wednesday. Another accused in the case was arrested earlier.
Constable Naresh was crushed to death while trying to apprehend one Asfaq and his accomplice. The accused were fleeing in a mini-truck with stolen cattle. As the constable tried to stop the mini-truck, the accused ran over him, crushing him to death.
“Asfaq, a resident of Mewat in Haryana, was arrested from Narela area in west Delhi on Tuesday. He had a Rs 10,000 reward on his head,” said a Delhi police officer.
Asfaq’s accomplice Shakir was arrested in November 2012. Another accused in the case is on the run. Mewat district in Haryana is infamous for cattle thieves.
