Delhi MCD elections: Congress declares first list of candidates, including 119 first timers

The Congress on Saturday night released its first list of candidates for the April 23 municipal elections. The party declared candidates for 140 wards all three municipal corporations.

The Congress on Saturday night released its first list of candidates for the April 23 municipal elections. The party declared candidates for 140 wards all three municipal corporations.

Sources said 119 of them were first timers and the party has accommodated 21 sitting councillors. In three corporations, the Congress has 85 councillors.

A party functionary said the names for remaining 132 wards will be announced on Sunday.

“The first list includes names of eight incumbent corporators of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), seven of North Delhi Municipal Corporation, and six are from East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC),” the functionary said.
