Driving along the road between Dhaula Kuan and Rao Tula Ram flyover on National Highway 8 (NH8) is all set to improve.
With civil construction on its Airport Express Metro Link almost complete along this traffic-heavy section, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has now decided to remove its barricades put up on the stretch, restore the road and hand it over to the agency that owns this stretch.
“The stretch has been repaired and we will hand it over early next week,” a DMRC spokesperson said.
Apart from the interstate traffic between Delhi-Rajasthan and Delhi-Haryana, the road caters to a huge volume of Gurgaon and Dwarka bound traffic everyday.
With the Commonwealth Games just a few months away, senior DMRC officials said they are now restoring all roads, which the agency had taken over to facilitate phase II of metro construction, and handing them back to the respective maintenance agencies.
“We had taken over 45-kilometres of roads during phase 2. While 30.36 kilometres of roads have already been handed over, another 3.6 kilometres of roads are ready to be handed over to the civic agencies which were maintaining them earlier,” the DMRC spokesperson said.
“The remaining will be handed over within next month,” added the official.
