Delhi: Nigerian woman alleges gangrape in moving car, 4 held

A 29-year-old woman of African origin Friday alleged gang-rape by four men in a car, who later pushed her out of the moving vehicle near east Delhi’s Chilla border. The police arrested the four accused after the test identification parade (TIP) and recovered the car.

According to the complaint filed by the woman, the accused approached her on the pretext of dropping her home but later took turns to rape her.

“The woman claimed while she was on her way back home from a farmhouse in Chhatarpur in south Delhi. She was waiting for transport when Rakesh, Sunny, Deepak and Johnson approached her and offered a lift. When she boarded the vehicle, the men drove around south Delhi and raped her,” said a police official.

She said she tried to raise an alarm but her mouth was gagged. The accused drove towards Noida via Ring Road to avoid any police presence.

“She alleged they threw her out of their Hyundai Accent car at a spot just a few metres ahead of a police post near Chilla border and escaped,” said a police official.

The woman said she sought help from the security guards at the border post and narrated her ordeal to them.She was rushed to the Mayur Vihar police station and a case based on her statement was registered against the accused, after which she was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital for medical examination and treatment.

Sources on anonymity claimed the woman provided the investigators with contact details of one of the accused, which led to their arrest.

“The woman claims to be a tourist in India. The accused admitted to have offered the woman a lift but denied raping her,” said a police official.
