The Delhi Government on Thursday conducted a two-hour coordination trial run ahead of the Odd-Even formula implementation from January 1.

Around 200 points across the city were part of the exercise between 9 and 11 am to test the coordination between various agencies. However, several volunteers failed to show up.

“We have been asked to co-ordinate with the police, We will assist them. We don’t have power to challan but we will be ready with roses on Friday morning,” Dheeraj Singh, a volunteer who was present at the Zakir Husain Marg told Hindustan Times.

Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday announced that the dry run was only to create awareness of about the Odd-Even formula, adding that no vehicle would be challaned and there would be no effect on the public.

The scheme, which will be implemented for 15 days, has been proposed to curb pollution in the national capital by restricting movement of private vehicles based on their registration numbers.

Around 125 teams of Transport department and Revenue department will be deployed during the 15-day road-rationing plan.
