A Delhi Police constable was suspended for allegedly hitting a few people with a baton and arguing with others, including a woman, while trying to control a crowd outside a bank in the Yamuna Vihar area.

A video has emerged where the constable is seen getting into an argument with the woman and then hitting people with a baton, sources said.

The incident took place on Tuesday when the woman went the bank to get her currency notes exchanged, police said

The constable, Ram Naresh, posted in northeast district, said since the woman was trying to get into the queue, he asked her to follow the line.

A few people stepped in to help the woman and the constable allegedly hit them with a baton, a police officer said, adding an inquiry has been initiated in this regard and the constable has been suspended.
