“Fresh snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand has led to a decrease in temperature and rain in Delhi and in the adjoining region.

"Sunday, too, will witness some rain as another snowfall is expected in the hills,” said a Met official. Temperatures will start rising from Monday again.

The city received 7.6 mm of rainfall till morning. The maximum temperature fell drastically from Friday’s 27.1 degree Celsius to 22.6 degree Celsius on Saturday, two degrees below normal.

The drop in temperature forced many people to fish out the warm clothes they had packed in the cupboards.

“For me the winter season was officially over earlier this week but this morning when I saw rain, I had to take out my woollens again. I hope the cold stays for a few more days,” said Rukma Dutta, an advertising professional.

However, the minimum temperature in the city increased from 13.9 degree Celsius on Friday to 14.9 degree Celsius on Saturday morning, four degrees above normal.

The weatherman has blamed it on the moisture in the air that is supposed to trap heat at night.

The Met Department has predicted a wet Sunday morning.

Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 23 and 13 degree Celsius, respectively.
