Delhi’s per capita income up by Rs 28k, three times the national average

The Capital’s per capita income went up by Rs 28,000 in 2015-16 compared to the previous year and is thrice the national average.

The Capital’s per capita income went up by Rs 28,000 in 2015-16 compared to the previous year and is thrice the national average.

“The per capita income of Delhi has been increasing year by year. It is estimated to have increased to Rs 2,80,142 for the year 2015-16 against Rs 2,52, 011 during 2014-15. This reveals annual growth of 11.16% over the previous year,” said the estimates of State Domestic Product for 2015-16 released on Thursday. The national average for the period is Rs 93,231.

Delhi ranks second among all States and UTs, behind Goa.

Neighbouring states Haryana and Punjab’s figures were Rs 1.50 lakh and Rs 1.15 lakh, respectively in 2014-15.

Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia released the report which said the GSDP in Delhi at the current prices for the year 2015-16 is registering a growth of 13%.

“The GSDP is estimated at Rs 5,58,745 crore in 2015-16 against Rs 4,94,460 crores in 2014-15. As regards the real growth in GSDP at constant prices in Delhi during 2015-16 is 8.34 % as compared to 7.6 % at the national level,” the report said.

The contribution of Delhi in total GDP (at current prices) at the national level is 4.12% as compared to 1.43% share of Delhi in total population of the country, the report said.
