The Met office said the coldest day of the season so far has been Dec 25 when the minimum temperature dropped to 2.9 degrees -- five notches below average.

Tuesday's minimum temperature was recorded at 4.5 degrees, three notches below average, while the maximum settled at 17.9 degrees.
