Before going off to sleep on Friday night, Anand Danish, a 25-year-old marketing professional, dreaded the thought of yet another day of field job sweating it out in the sweltering heat. However, Saturday morning proved to be a pleasant surprise.

"I woke up to find a pleasant rainy morning after days of oppressive heat. The rest of the day, too, was an enjoyable experience," Danish said. If you thought this was cool, there's more. After a rainy morning that brought down maximum temperature to as much as seven degrees below normal and a relatively cool Saturday, the weatherman has predicted generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers for Sunday too.

Delhi experienced a squall in the wee hours that was followed by a slightly cloudy sky early in the morning. The national Capital then was drenched by non-seasonal rains at 8.30am. Except west Delhi, most parts of the Capital received good quantity of rain that totalled to 1.7 mm between 8.30am and 5.30pm. The maximum temperature recorded was 32.4 degrees Celsius, seven degrees below normal, while the minimum was 26.1 degree Celsius, normal for this time of the year. The maximum wind velocity during morning was 60 km/hour, Met officials said, adding that the rains were caused by western disturbances clubbed with upper air cyclonic circulation over Punjab.

The maximum and minimum temperatures on Sunday is likely to be 34 and 23 degrees Celsius.
