Cold and misty mornings, signals of fast approaching winters, are back in the city. On Sunday, the minimum temperature in Delhi — at 18.2 degrees Celsius — was recorded below 20 degrees for the first time in October this year.
“The mornings have started to get very cold. It was especially cold today and I had to get up and switch off the fans,” said Neelam Khanna, a resident of Patparganj.
On Saturday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 20.1 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature is usually recorded in the early morning hours.
“The early morning fog cover is visible in the city a little early this year. Visibility is usually low in the morning,” said Rakesh Verma, a resident of Malviya Nagar.
The maximum temperature was recorded as 30.6 degrees Celsius. “The afternoon was also pleasant on Sunday. One did not feel hot even while walking under the sun,” said Megha Walia, a college student.
The humidity level was recorded at a high of 86% and low of 26%. “The mist in the mornings and the evening is due to high humidity and western disturbances over the hills. It should dissipate in a couple of days,” said the weatherman.
The Met department has predicted mist on Monday morning. The temperature is expected to be between 19 and 31 degree Celsius on the first day of the week.
