‘Deranged’ woman sets herself on fire
A 34-Yeat-old woman set herself on fire at Jangpura area in Southeast Delhi, reports HT Correspondent.
A 34-Yeat-old woman set herself on fire at Jangpura area in Southeast Delhi on Thursday.
She is fighting for her life after suffering 99 per cent burns at Safdarjung Hospital. The police said that the women, Ruby, is suffering from psychiatric problems and was under medication till sometime back.
Ruby's parents died a few years back and she lives alone on the first floor. Her brother Virender Kumar and sister-in-law live in the second floor of the same building. Kumar used to take care of her and provided her with food and money.
"She came back home after buying some chapattis. She then poured kerosene on her body and set herself on fire. On hearing her shouts and seeing the fumes, her neighbours called up the police," said a senior police officer. Fire tenders were called in.
The police said they had earlier also received complaints about her creating ruckus in the area.
