Delhi Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a gang involved in stealing petroleum products from tankers with the arrest of five youths.

The arrested have been identified as Shankar Kumar Mehto, 30, Sunil Kumar, 30, Dinesh Kumar, 30 — all from Jharkhand; Ram Bahadur, 24 from UP and Bijender, 34, from Haryana. The five were apprehended from Dwarka underpass last week while allegedly taking out oil from a tanker.

"The gang was in active connivance with drivers and helpers of tankers. They take out 100-200 litres of petroleum products from tankers at a rate of Rs 25 per litre of diesel and sell it for Rs 32," DCP (South-West) A K Ojha said. About 350 litre of stolen diesel was recovered on the spot.
