Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit and union minority affairs minister K Rahman Khan met union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to find an amicable solution to the issue of the quashing of FIR against members of the Anjuman-e-Haideri registered in January 2012.

The FIR was registered for rioting after the police had stopped the devotees of dargah Shah-e-Mardana from opening the disputed western gate of the shrine in BK Dutt Colony near Jor Bagh, leading to a riot-like situation.

Seventeen security personnel and 50 locals had been injured in the incident.

The chief minister and the union minority affairs minister, accompanied by Delhi chief secretary DM Spolia and police commissioner Neeraj Kumar, discussed the issues of the demarcation of Waqf land at the Dargah and registration of FIR against Delhi Development Authority officials for allegedly demolishing heritage Ghausia Mosque and graveyards.

“We want to find an amicable solution for these issues. We gave the entire background to the union home minister. The chief secretary has also been asked to take up the matter of quashing of FIR with the Lieutenant Governor,” Dikshit said.

According to sources, a meeting was held with UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi last Thursday where it was decided that a committee comprising prominent Muslim leaders, union minority affairs minister and Delhi chief minister would be formed to find a solution.

“There are court orders regarding the construction of a wall to demarcate the Waqf land which is not being implemented. There is another court order regarding the evacuation of encroached nursery land which has not been done,” prominent Muslim leader Mehmood Pracha said. “The registration of case against officials who demolished the heritage mosque and graveyard has to be done too,” he added.
