In an incident that has shocked animal rights activists, two stray dogs were found hanging from a tree on Saturday on NH-24. Activists say locals are involved in the case.
The matter came to light when a passerby reported the matter to an organization working for animals. A team visited the spot and filed a report at the Indirapuram police station against unknown persons.
Commuters often complain of foul smell along the NH-24 as bodies of animals are regularly dumped here. This case, however, is the first of its kind.
"How can a person kill an animal and hang it like this in full public with no one opposing it," said Dr Vrinda Chaturvedi, who passes through the area everyday.
Another daily commuter, Vishal Singh, said, "Traffic moves at a snail's pace on NH-24. The foul smell has polluted the air but the hanging of animals on trees now has turned it into a flesh market."
