The domestic breeding checkers (DBC) of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have called off their strike following assurances from the civic agency.

The DBCs who were demanding regularisation of their contract jobs, withdrew their strike a day after the civic body issued an ultimatum asking them to join duties by Thursday evening or face sacking. The DBCs had staged a demonstration outside the office of the Lieutenant Governor on Thursday.

"We have been given assurances on behalf of the L-G that our demand for regularisation will be looked into. On his assurance, we have decided to withdraw the strike and have rejoined duty," said Ashok Chaudhary, president of Anti-Malaria Karamchari Sangh.
