Delhi woke up to a sunny morning on Thursday but Met officials say the day may yet see rain showers. MeT has forecast thunderstorm rain and partly cloudy skies towards afternoon on Thursday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 32 and 23 degree Celsius, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.
“A few western disturbances have hit the north-western states and these systems are likely to trigger rains on Thursday. This can be called pre-monsoon showers, too,” a Met official said.
The MeT department has, however, not said yet if the monsoon will keep its June 29 date with Delhi. MeT officials have said that the advent of monsoon will become clear only once this week’s round of pre-monsoon showers, caused by a western disturbance, ends.
The national capital had seen another rainy day on Wednesday, which had kept mercury within normal levels even as humidity shot up. Showers were reported from many parts of the city, resulting in heavy traffic in some places. The minimum temperature was recorded at 23.7 degree Celsius, five notches below what is normal for this time of the year, the Met official said. The maximum temperature stood at 32.4 degrees Celsius which was six degrees below the normal.
On Friday and Saturday, there are no predictions of rain. However, on Sunday, showers can be expected again.
