One of three Muslim teens who alleged he was beaten up by a group for refusing to say ‘Jai Mata Di’ said he was withdrawing his complaint, a day after police registered an FIR against five people in the matter.
Seventeen-year-old Mohammed Dilkash told Hindustan Times that he was kicked and punched by the men on Saturday for refusing to chant the slogan, but he wanted to withdraw his complaint. “I do not want any police investigation. I will go the police station and will withdraw my complaint,” said the youth who sustained a fracture in the scuffle.
Dilkash hails from Purnia in Bihar and studies at a madrasa in Ramesh Enclave in Delhi.
In his official statement, the youngster told police that he had gone for a stroll in the park with his friends Ajmaal and Naeem in Ramesh Enclave, outer Delhi. The trio came across five men drinking who then allegedly forced the boys to say ‘Jai mata di’. When they refused, the men beat the three of them up.

Deputy commissioner of police (Outer) Vikramjit Singh said, “Dilkash’s allegations were not supported by his two friends Ajmaal and Naeem. The two said that the five boys were playing cricket and the ball hit one of them after which they got into a scuffle. We have already registered a case of causing grievous hurt and are investigating it.”
Singh added that no one has approached the police yet for withdrawing the case.
Dilkash’s teacher at the madarassa, Mohammed Bilal told HT, “Yesterday (Tuesday) after the case was registered, some colony residents came to us and asked us to withdraw the case. I am going to the madarasa to meet the victims. We will decide after speaking to the other teachers.”
The other two teenagers who were with Dilkash also study at the same madarasa.
