Keeping in mind the tendency of drinking and driving that goes up among Delhiites in the party season, the Traffic Police have decided to conduct a special drive against drink driving daily till the early hours.
"We will start the special drive one day prior to Christmas that falls on December 25 and continue till midnight of December 31. Special focus will be given to the pubs, bars and hotels where parties are organised," said Satyendra Garg, JCP (traffic).
Recently, Delhi Police have identified about 400 such watering holes across the city. "Last year, Delhi had registered no fatalities during New Year eve and this year also we have targeted the same," he said.
So far about 3,000 people have been awarded imprisonment for the offence, while over 2,000 motorists have faced suspension of the driving licenses.
