A 30-year-old biker was killed after he fell from the Taj Enclave flyover in east Delhi's Geeta Colony area in the early hours of Monday.
According to police, the victim was driving drunk at a high speed. He fell from a height of around 50 feet after his motorcycle rammed into the railing of the flyover.
The accident was reported to the police through a call made to the police control room by a passerby. The victim has been identified as Manoj Kumar, a resident of Ambedkar Vihar in Karawal Nagar.
Kumar's medical examination report has confirmed that he was riding his motorcycle under the influence of liquor, a senior police officer said.
According to the senior officer, Kumar worked in a private company in Badarpur and used to live in a rented accommodation in that area.
On Sunday night, Kumar was going to Badarpur from Karawal Nagar when the accident took place, the senior police officer added.
"Prima facie, it appears that the deceased was negotiating a sharp turn on the flyover while heading towards Raj Ghat. Due to high speed, Kumar probably lost control over his motorcycle and rammed it into the railing of the flyover. The bike got stuck in the railing and he fell from a height of around 50 feet," said the police officer.
Kumar was rushed to the nearby GTB Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. A case of death due to negligent driving has been registered at the Geeta Colony police station. Kumar is survived by his wife and two children.
