A 20-year-old student from the US has accused a senior faculty member of the prestigious St. Stephen’s College in the Capital of sexually harassing her.

The student — who was in India to study Sanskrit as part of Delhi University’s student exchange programme — reported the matter to the college authorities on Thursday. The girl, who was staying with fellow foreign students at an accommodation close to the college, has left for the US, sources said.

The College Complaints Committee of DU, which deals with allegations of sexual harassment, has taken up the matter. “We received the complaint and it is being probed by the complaints panel,” Vinod Choudhary, the spokesperson for St. Stephen’s College, said.

The girl had come to the college in August and enrolled for a short-term language course.
