Delhi Police have arrested a 30-year-old sales executive for raping a girl after taking her to Dwarka on Wednesday night. Police said the accused, Anuj Saini, a resident of Gurgaon, had fled to Jaipur after dumping the girl in Dwarka Sector 20.
“Our team was constantly tracking his movements. We received an input that Saini will come home to pick up some clothes and money on Monday. He had plans to immediately leave for a hill station to evade arrest. He was arrested from outside his residence in Palam Vihar, Gurgaon,” AK Ojha, DCP (southwest), said. Police said the girl, who hails from Manipur and works in a spa in Gurgaon, was offered lift while she was waiting for a bus to Mahipalpur, where she stays.
“She was waiting at IFFCO Chowk. At 9pm, a Santro car stopped near her and Saini offered her a lift. After driving some distance, Saini took her to Dwarka,” Ojha added.
In her statement, the woman had reported that she had tried to call her relatives from her mobile phone but Saini had beaten her up and taken her to an isolated place forcibly.
“We recovered two debit cards from the crime scene which helped us identify the accused,” Ojha said.
Saini has confessed his crime. He also told the police that he had increased the volume of the stereo and locked the car through a central locking system when the girl began resisting. “She also tried to contact one of her relatives through her mobile phone but he snatched it away from her,” Ojha added.
Police have recovered Saini’s Santro car.
