The Election Commission on Tuesday expressed its displeasure over Maharashtra home minister RR Patil's provocative speech at Belgum in Karnataka recently.
Patil had said that the blackening of the ex-mayor of Belgum's face was not an incident against an individual but against 12 crore Marathi speaking people.
“Till now people are tolerant, but if their self respect is affected then the swords that are drawn out should not be put back till the goal is achieved,” he had said.
The commission in its order said Patil did not deny making the statement and therefore expressed its displeasure with his conduct and asked him to be careful in future.
