It is that time of the year again when you gear up for a comprehensive shopping experience. To choose from would be a range of consumer goods, leather products, a variety of textiles — both handmade and machine made, jewellery, furniture, electronic goods and even automobiles.
And, after indulging in shop-till-you-drop exercise, you can pamper your taste buds with food from all over the world and Indian dishes.
All this would be available at the 30th edition of the annual India International Trade Fair (IITF), which kickstarted on Sunday at Pragati Maidan. Although there is no partner country this year, Maharashtra is the partner state.
Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan are the "focus states".
The theme this year is 'Clean and Energy Efficient Technology Products and Services'. A theme pavilion, named 'Energytech and Envirotech', will showcase products and services relating to the theme.
"Keeping in view environmental concerns, we promote use of environment-friendly packaging materials. In addition, Pragati Maidan will be a complete 'no smoking zone' during the fair," said a senior IITF official.
Union minister for commerce and industry Kamal Nath inaugurated the IITF 2010 in the presence of Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot and commerce secret.
