It is not just the East Delhi councillors who are not satisfied with their office at the Udyog Bhavan in Patparganj industrial area.
The building is yet to get a completion certificate from the DDA and NOCs from the fire department and the Delhi Police.
The corporation said the onus of securing the mandatory clearances and certificates lies with Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (DSIIDC), which constructed the building.
"The building was handed over to us by the Delhi government. The irony is that the corporation, which is supposed to make East Delhi a better and a structurally safe area, is working out of a building which doesn't have necessary clearance from the fire agency and competition certificate from the DDA," said an EDMC official, requesting anonymity.
The building, which was constructed in 2010, was earlier the office of the commissioner of industries. "We have three floors in the building and the rest of it belongs to DSIIDC. They should immediately file for the security certificate as our lives are at stake here," said Mehak Singh, chairman designate, EDMC.
"The trifurcation of the MCD was done without keeping infrastructural issues in mind," said Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta.
DSIIDC has given three floors to EDMC in its Udyog Bhavan building in exchange of a piece of land, belonging to the unified MCD in Lajpat Nagar.
