The Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) of Delhi Government on Friday gave the financial nod for construction of 1500 MW coal based Aravali Super Thermal Power station at Jhajjar in Haryana. The Delhi Cabinet has already approved the project.
Finance Minister AK Walia said the plant would cost Rs 8294 crore. Delhi would share an equity of Rs 622 crore in this project. The cost of the project would be funded by equity/debt ratio of 30:70. “Fifty per cent equity would be contributed by NTPC and rest 25 per cent each by Delhi and Haryana governments,” the minister said.
Delhi has already released an equity of Rs 150 crore for this project. First unit of 500 MW would be commissioned within six months after start of work and subsequent units at six months intervals. Delhi and Haryana will share the power generated from this plant in equal proportion.
In another decision, the EFC sanctioned Rs 93.22 crore for the construction of a grade separator (multi layer flyover) on GT Road Shahdara at Keshav Chowk near Shyamlal College. This grade separator would be constructed within 33 months after start of work.
Walia said the grade separator would include escalator, sub-ways and Foot over bridges whereas elaborate provision of traffic diversion, electrical pump house and horticulture works would also be ensured. “It would benefit in terms of saving time and fuel during travel and loss of human life due to accidents apart from providing smooth movement of traffic,” the minister added.
The EFC also approved the construction of a service road near Shaheen Bagh from Jasola cut to Kalindi Kunj junction with an estimated cost of Rs 1.25 crore. The project would be completed within six months. An amount of Rs 2.40 crore has also been approved for construction of a two-lane bridge on old Agra Canal near Jasola Village within an year.
