Egyptian dancers grace tourism awards
Belly dance topped the list of myriad entertaining exhibitions to mark an eventful night held to felicitate the winners of 'Explore the World Annual International Awards-2008' in the capital, reports Payal Agarwal.delhi Updated: Aug 23, 2008 17:56 IST
The 4th Edition of 'Explore the World Annual International Awards-2008' lived upto its expectation as a major event to felicitate the best in hospitality, tourism and aviation industry. Leaders from all segments of travel and tourism participated in the event held at Ashok Hotel, New Delhi.
Honourable Ambika Soni, Union Minister for Tourism & Culture, Govt of India, Honourable Mani Shankar Aiyer, Union Minister for Development of North-Eastern Region and His Excellency Dr Mohamed Abdel Hamid Higazy, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt graced the occasion.
Congratulating the winners, Smt Ambika Soni said that India and Egypt enjoy warm friendship. She also said that she wanted the people to interact with the Govt and help it in the development of various tourist destinations within the country.
Shri Mani Shankar Aiyer highlighted the rapid growth in India's tourism industry. He said that as Egypt has long been a much-favoured tourist destination, India has a lot to learn from them.
Commenting on the Egypt-India relationship for mutual interests, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Higazy said that Egypt has always has strong feelings of admiration and respect for India's contribution to the history of mankind through its ancient and marvellous civilization.
This year the awards were not limited to the domestic segment of the industries and covered the international majors operating in India. They were in association with Egyptian Tourism Authority and Egypt Air.
The awardees/ participants had come from all over the world including countries like Britain, Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, London, Egypt, Malaysia, S Africa besides India.
This event was supported by Tourism, Travel and Hospitality organisations such as PATA, FHRAI, TAAI, ATOI, ADTOI, HRANI, HAI, IATO, and so forth, apart from other international associations and organisations.
