Eight injured in poll-related clashes

Eight persons, including two women, were injured when a clash broke out between two groups allegedly over panchayat polls related rivalry in Karanpur Joya village in Bhojpur block, police said today.

Eight persons, including two women, were injured when a clash broke out between two groups allegedly over panchayat polls related rivalry in Karanpur Joya village in Bhojpur block, police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred last evening when Appu Kashyap, who was defeated by Surender Pal in the panchayat polls two days ago, accused Pal and his family members of abusing him.

Supporters of Appu Kashyap and Surender Pal exchanged fire and attacked each other with weapons, in which eight persons were injured, the police said.

The injured were rushed to a hospital, police said, adding cases have been registered against both the groups.
