Two elderly men were found dead at their homes in New Delhi on Friday, a day after another senior citizen was stabbed to death in a robbery bid, police said.
Police said a 65-year-old man was found dead with his face smashed at his Narela home on Thursday after neighbours complained of foul smell coming from his house.
Lal Singh’s house wasn't ransacked, said an officer, and it wasn’t clear who killed him and why. Lal had retired from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi as a driver.
“Robbery does not seem to be the motive. He lived here alone, without any domestic help or visitors,” said an officer. Police are speaking to his wife and children who live in Haryana to check if Lal had any personal enemies, said the officer.
At northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park, a 56-year-old labourer was found stabbed at his home, police said.
Ghulam Murteja wasn’t keeping well and his murderers took away Rs 10,000, said an officer. “No one was home when he was killed. In this case robbery was the prime motive,” police said.
Meanwhile, the police said they have solved the Janakpuri murder case. The elderly man was found in a pool of blood was killed by his nephew and his friends in a robbery bid. An officer said Vicky killed 70-year-old B.D. Sharma, a former Air India employee, when Sharma's wife was at a jagran. Two of Vicky's friends who also hatched and executed the plan are absconding.
Sharma lived at his Block C, Janakpuri, home with his wife. The assailants had looted cash and jewellery worth Rs 1 lakh after stabbing Sharma, said an officer.
