The police arrested the two boys on Monday. While one of the accused is 15-years-old and had dropped out after class 8 after getting addicted to eraser fluid, the other is a student of class 9 at a private intermediary college at Loni.

Police said the two boys, along with their friend Mohammed Hakim (21), picked up a fight with their 14-year-old friend on February 28 at a wedding party in their neighbourhood.

"They reached a compromise but then the three accused (Hakim is on the run) later took the victim to a secluded spot near Loni railway station to sniff eraser fluid. They tried to strangle him there but an autorickshaw driver spotted them and intervened," SSP Raghubir Lal said.

"But after the auto driver left, the trio took him to another place and overpowered him and then strangled him," said a police officer.

Police said the three accused had sniffed eraser fluid before murdering the minor boy and had also forced him to sniff the fluid. The police also recovered the victim's mobile phone from the two minor accused.

One of the arrested minors told the police that the victim was also addicted to sniffing eraser fluid.
