Former UP chief secretary Neera Yadav was released from Dasna district jail on Tuesday after she Allahabad high court granted her bail on Monday.
Yadav, a 1971-batch IAS officer, along with Flex industries top official Ashok Chaturvedi were sentenced to four-year jail term by a Central Bureau of Investigation-designated court on 7 December in a Noida land-allotment scam case.
Jail officials said that during her stay in the jail, Samajwadi Party UP state chief Akhilesh Yadav had a 20-minute meeting with her.
Yadav was released at 12.20pm on Tuesday from Dasna jail. Chaturvedi, on the other hand, was released on Monday evening.
“Both were treated as normal prisoners and they slept on floor. They were provided with blankets for winters. We served them simple jail food,” jail superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma said.
According to the superintendent, Yadav finished reading of Jim Corbett’s biography and the book, Discovery of India. “She frequented primary school inside the prison and spoke to children and other female inmates. She was lodged at women cell number 1 with about 55 other inmates,” Sharma said.
