It brought down temperature by seven degrees but Thursday's more than 100 mm of rain also caused substantial trouble for scores of people across the national capital.
The Safdarjung Observatory recorded a total of 108.5 mm rain during 24 hours ended at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday. Of this, the maximum rainfall — as much as 93.8 mm — was received till 8.30 a.m. and the day saw intermittent rain amounting to 20.7 mm during the next 12 hours.
The Met department officials said, as against 33.2 degree Celsius on Wednesday, the maximum temperature recorded on Thursday was 26.4 degree Celsius, as much as eight degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was 23.3 degree Celsius (two degrees below normal) compared to 24.5 degree Celsius on Wednesday.
For Friday, the weatherman has predicted a generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain/thunder showers — one or two (showers) may be heavy. The temperature would range between 28 degree Celsius (max) and 23 degree Celsius.
