Family members of Mohammad Ahmad Kazmi, the freelance journalist who was arrested by the Delhi Police on March 7 in connection with the Israel Embassy car bombing in February, have released the bank account details of his wife.
Police had claimed that money had come into Jahanara Kazmi’s account from Iran and had asked the Enforcement Directorate to probe the trail of money.
“These transactions date to at least four years and originate from Dubai. They follow a regular monthly pattern and were sent by Jahanara Kazmi’s son from a previous marriage to Kazmi’s long deceased elder brother,” a family member of Kazmi said.
According to details provided by Kazmi family, money was transferred from the account of Ali Quazim.
Police had not specified the time-frame within which the money was deposited in the two accounts — one of which belonged to his wife Jehanara.
Quazim, who runs a mobile repair shop in Dubai, used to deposit money in the account of Kazmi as well as his wife at the end of every month. Quazim is currently in Delhi.
“We believe that Delhi Police knows what the source of funds is, but has created a deliberate bureaucratic complexity by assigning the investigation to the ED,” the family member added.
