A day after a man was gunned down by four bike-borne assailants a few metres away from his east Delhi residence, his family was outright confrontational about the allegations that 35-year-old Atul Jain was involved in a betting racket.

"My son wasn't involved in any betting racket as was reported in some sections of the media. A simple man is mercilessly gunned down by robbers while walking towards his own house and instead of catching those responsible, these are the allegations that the police and the media cook up to defame him. It's a case of robbery-cum-murder," said an incensed RK Jain, Atul's father.
