The state government has told authorities that farmers should at no cost be allowed to disrupt normal life during their announced agitation on March 7. Hundreds of farmers have threatened a 'chakka jam' from Greater Noida to Agra to protest land acquisition for construction of a toll highway - Yamuna Expressway - between the two cities.

Farmers have been agitating at Bhatta Parsaul in Greater Noida since mid-January, protesting the land acquisition policies of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority.

Meerut commissioner Bhuvnesh Kumar, under whose jurisdiction Noida falls, has held a meeting with top police and administrative officials in the wake of the agitation.
