Throwing wedding parties in the city is all set to become an expensive affair.
The MCD has proposed a hike in the permission charges to hold functions in farmhouses, stating that the present rates are quite ‘meagre’.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has also taken a decision to impose penalty against farmhouse owners who have been carrying out commercial activities illegally. If anybody is found holding functions in farmhouses without permission, the person will be charged 10 times the actual charge as penalty.
With amendment in the farmhouse booking policy, a new category has also been created. At present, there is no provision of charging fee from properties having area less than 2.5 acres.
According to the proposal, farmhouses below 0.5 acre, but not exceeding 2.5 acres will be charged R20,000 as opposed to existing rate of Rs 10,000. For plots above 2.5 acres but not exceeding 5.0 acres, charges will be R40, 000 as opposed to current charges of Rs 20,000.
Farmhouses over 5 acres will have to pay Rs 1 lakh as opposed to maximum charges of Rs 20,000 at present for farmhouses above 2.5 acres.
Permission charges have to be paid to the MCD or Delhi Development Authority (DDA) before each function. The matter will be presented before the standing committee again on Wednesday for approval.
