New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah met Home Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi on Saturday and sought help for his son and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to tide over the crisis in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials at the Jammu and Kashmir House, the official state guest house here, told IANS that the former chief minister requested assistance so that the younger Abdullah could tide over the volatile situation.
The Kashmir Valley has been tense for days after security forces shot dead nearly a dozen people during street protests. The violence has led to curfew that continues.
Farooq Abdullah later left for Srinagar, where Omar Abdullah has called an all-party meeting Monday.
