A minor altercation over sharing tables among two groups of party revellers in a city pub turned ugly on Friday night.
Neha Roy, 24, a BPO employee, claimed she was assaulted by two girls at Ignite pub in Sahara mall on MG Road. She also alleged that the pub manager and a bouncer misbehaved with her.
Roy, who works with a call centre in Delhi, said, "I had booked a table at Ignite for two people. We were enjoying our drinks and snacks. My friend Aliya went to the washroom and I was sitting alone when two girls came and occupied our table. I told them I have booked the table but they started abusing me."
She added, "One of the girls called a bouncer and he started abused me and pushed me. He asked me to leave but I resisted." The Delhi resident has alleged that both the girls started hitting her and one of them bit her cheeks thrice. "I shouted for help but no one came to my rescue. I was thrown out of the pub by the manager. He abused me too. I am sure the CCTV cameras have recorded all this," says Roy.
On the basis of Roy’s complaint, the police have registered a case against the pub manager, the bouncer and two unidentified girls. Pub manager Jaydeep Ghosh, however, has a different story to tell. He refuted the allegation that he and the bouncer assaulted the girl.
"The fight took place outside the pub, not inside, as the complainant has alleged. Roy had come along with her friend and she picked up a fight with a group of people who were dancing. She hit one of the girls who fainted. We asked them to leave the pub premises," he said.
Ghosh added that the injured friends entered into an altercation with Roy and she must have got injured in the melee.
Jagdish Prasad, SHO of the Sector 29 police station, said, "We have registered a criminal case against the accused and are trying to identify the two girls. We are also probing the allegations levelled by the bar manager against the victim."
