Fire at Nirman Bhawan

A fire broke out on the second floor of Nirman Bhawan in central Delhi on Thursday morning. Nobody was injured in the fire that was controlled in half an hour by nine fire tenders. The apparent cause of fire is said to be a minor explosion in an air conditioner.

A fire broke out on the second floor of Nirman Bhawan in central Delhi on Thursday morning. Nobody was injured in the fire that was controlled in half an hour by nine fire tenders. The apparent cause of fire is said to be a minor explosion in an air conditioner.

According to a fire officer, the fire broke out around 10.30 am at C-wing of Nirman Bhawan in an air conditioner in room number 220, in the Ministry of Urban Development. The smoke was first noticed by a CISF constable, Majendra Jarika, who immediately informed his seniors.

An air conditioner, one Xerox machine, a computer table, some files and folders were gutted in the fire. Fortunately, there was no loss of human lives, said a CISF official.
