A fire broke out in central Delhi’s Gaffar market on Tuesday night.
Fifteen fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames. The fire could not be controlled till 12.30 am on Wednesday, said Delhi Fire Services officials. There were no casualties till last reports came in.
A fire department official said few locals informed the police control room around 11pm. Nine fire tenders were initially rushed to the spot. But the fire had covered a major portion of the building as rooms were stacked with plastic and electronic goods.
“Six more fire tenders were sent to bring the blaze under control at the earliest. Around 30 firemen were pressed into action,” said the officer.
The reason behind the fire could not be ascertained. However, police suspect the possibility of a short circuit.
