The wayward driving of a young woman driver proved costly for five persons hit by her speeding car near the Karol Bagh Metro station on Thursday morning.

The 24-year-old MBA graduate, employed with a Gurgaon company, was on her way home in Kirti Nagar from a wedding when she drove into five rickshaws.

“Around 7am, she lost control and rammed the rickshaws parked on the roadside,” a police officer said.

The police said the woman was speeding. While taking a turn, she lost control over her vehicle. An auto-rickshaw driver who had parked his vehicle nearby managed to escape.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital. Their conditions are said to be stable. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the woman driver. The police have impounded her car.

In another accident, four persons were hurt when a car rammed them in East Delhi’s Trilokpuri area. The police said the driver, 22-year-old Sagar, was parking his car when he accidentally pressed the accelerator.

“Four persons who were sitting on the footpath suffered minor injuries and were discharged after first aid,” a senior police officer said.

And, a car caught fire on Moolchand flyover on Thursday morning. The driver of the car, identified only as Amit, was injured.
