Mohsin Nishar, who rented his flat L-18 at Jamia Nagar to Atif, is an executive engineer with the Public Works Department in Ghaziabad.
Talking to HT, Nishar said he had purchased the flat from one Idrish, a contractor in Delhi, six months back for Rs three lakh.
He said he had no clue about the involvement of his tenants in an encounter in Jamia Nagar.
He shifted the entire responsibility of the tenants to his steno, Rehman, also working with the PWD. “The responsibility of the tenant and the maintenance was given to Mohd. Rehman who rented out the flat to one professor and two students. The rent agreement and police verification formalities were completed by Rehman. An amount of Rs 7000 was fixed as rent,” said Nishar.
Nishar denied any links with the tenants. “I never met them. The entire papers and documents related to the flat are in possession of my steno,” he said.
Rehman, a resident of Jamia Nagar, said he had applied for police verification and also completed the rent agreement formalities.
