Disruptions at the airport on Monday were slightly less compared to Sunday and the Met department has forecast some more improvement in the next two days.

“There will be just a slight reduction in the duration and intensity of fog at Indira Gandhi International Airport,” said RK Jenamani, director-in-charge, IGIA Met unit.

On Monday, at least 200 flights were delayed and 124 trains were affected after thick fog enveloped the Capital.

Thousands of passengers were stranded at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and train stations in Delhi for hours.

Passengers complained of little information from airlines. “There are no airline representatives here to give us any information about our flight,” said NK Vashisht, who was traveling to Amsterdam. “The screen says the flight is delayed by 16 hours but we are not sure about this,” he said.

At Delhi, 23 flights were diverted to other airports due to near zero visibility. The period between midnight and 3 am on Monday were the worst when flights couldn’t operate. Low visibility procedures were implemented at the airport for 14 hours between Sunday and Monday.
