The Standing Committee of the MCD has decided that the 10-fold hike in the booking rate of its Ambedkar Stadium will not be applicable for football matches from now on.
The Delhi Soccer Association had been demanding this for quite some time. A proposal in this regard was placed by BJP councillor Vijay Pandit before the MCD Standing Committee saying that the rate should be reduced for sports activities.
The stadium charge was increased from Rs 500 to Rs 5000 per day last September following an MCD sub-committee report. Standing committee chairman Yogender Chandolia said the old rate will be restored for football matches.
