Four accidents claim nine lives in one day

Nine persons were killed in different road accidents on Friday in Faridabad and Palwal districts.

Nine persons were killed in different road accidents on Friday in Faridabad and Palwal districts.

Five persons were killed when a truck, loaded with stones, collided with an autorickshaw in Mandkola area near Hathin in Palwal around 8.30am on Friday.

Four of the victims were identified as Kalicharan, Siyaram, Sarvesh and Pradeep. The fifth victim could not be identified. Another person, Chander Pal, was critically injured in the accident and was taken to Delhi, the police said.

"The victims were labourers in a Sohna sweet shop. They were returning to Sohna after cooking food at a wedding ceremony in Mandkola," said Satvir Singh, officiating station house officer at Hathin police station.

In another incident, two persons were killed on Friday when the scooter they were riding was crushed under a speeding truck near Palwal bus stand. The victims were identified as Raj Kumar and Nizamuddin.

Another scooterist, Budh Sagar, was killed when his scooter hit a truck on national highway 2. In another accident on the highway, a 22-year-old man was killed when a truck hit the Maruti Swift he was driving. The truck driver fled the spot, the police said.
