The Delhi Police arrested four persons, including a Delhi University graduate, for allegedly committing a robbery outside a bank at the Pacific Mall in East Delhi.

Police said Anil Pant, Mukesh Kumar, Tushar Lal and Bablu Saifi had robbed two people of Rs 18 lakh at gunpoint on January 11.

Police said Pant is a graduate of PGDAV College, DU, and was also involved in a kidnapping case reported from Anand Vihar last year.

The robbery incident had occurred outside a plush mall located in Ghaziabad. “When two employees at the mall went to a nearby bank to deposit some money on January 11 morning, the accused threw red chilly powder in their eyes and overpowered them,” said a senior police officer.

“The three assailants also fired in the air before snatching the bag containing Rs 18 lakh,” he added.

“They were about to board a bus to a destination outside the city when the police team intercepted and overpowered them,” said K.C Dwivedi, DCP, east Delhi. About Rs 1.40 lakh in cash and deposit slips of another Rs 1.5 lakh have been recovered from the accused.

“Further recoveries and investigations are still on,” said a senior police officer.
