As the CBI let off Dr Rajesh Talwar, Aarushi’s friends and neighbours are relieved. “I knew from the beginning that uncle (Dr Talwar) isn’t the culprit. Aarushi’s parents are very nice people. With Friday’s development, I believe the family have got their share of justice,” said Neesha Barua, one of Aarushi’s close friends and classmate.
Another classmate, Rajeshwari, said, “Aarushi’s father could have never done such a heinous crime. I was pretty sure that he would come out innocent.”
The girls, however, differed on whether the CBI should be believed on its findings. Rajeshwari, who has visited Aarushi’s home many times, said, “The adjacent flat is not even 10 feet away. If there was a fight among the servants, someone should have heard it. I don’t know how the CBI can hold them responsible for the murders.”
Neesha said that she believed the servants are the real culprits.
The Talwars’ neighbour RK Tiwari said, “I can’t express how relieved we are. We knew Dr Rajesh could not kill his daughter. We faced so many uncomfortable questions over Aarushi’s murder. The relationship between a father and daughter was under debate.”
Dr VK Gupta, president of the Indian Medical Association, Noida, said, “Who will compensate for the 56 days of Talwar’s life he spent in trauma? The Noida police should learn a lesson and in future make it point to arrest the accused only on proper grounds and not under media pressure.
