Frozen in a Pause: A photo exhibition in Delhi that will capture poetic moments
An exhibition, Frozen in a Pause, by photographer Ravi Dhingra will showcase pictures of moments captured in time. It will be accompanied by verses penned by Dolly Singh.
Each photographer has his perspective on what he wishes to capture. And for Delhi-based shutterbug Ravi Dhingra, photography is all about capturing light and shadows. In an upcoming exhibition in the city, Frozen in a Pause, he will display 24 photographs, out of which, some will also have verses complementing them.
Dhingra says, “My work involves a play of light and shadow. The monochrome tone heightens the viewing experience. In coloured photos, you can differentiate in between the hues, but monochrome presents viewers with the challenge of deciphering the various shades of grey.”
For lovers of poetry and photography, the first day of the exhibition will host the book launch of Dhingra’s first photo-poetry book comprising 50 of his works. Poet Dolly Singh has written the verses for the book and has themed each work around Dhingra’s photos. “The exhibition takes viewing experience to a different level. The pictures displayed show viewers a moment frozen in time. It would’ve changed completely in terms of light, shadow and appeal in a minute,” says the artist.
When it comes to photography, Dhingra has an individual take on it. However, he is also inspired by works of other renowned photographers. “I absolutely admire the works of Raghu Rai and Raghubir Singh. International names such as Yousuf Karsh and Sebastio Salgado are amazing too. But, I feel my work relates a lot to photographer Rafique Sayed,” he says.
