Ticketing chaos continued to haunt the Commonwealth Games even six days after the events started at different venues in the Capital.
Making things more difficult for the ticket seekers, the Organising Committee has reportedly shifted the prime events ticket distribution responsibility to the Games Protocol authorities at the Games Family Hotel Ashoka.
“This is being done just to avoid pressure on the Organising Committee, and now the Games Protocol authorities will be handling the tickets distribution of all prime events like boxing, India-Pak men’s hockey match etc,” said a source on condition of anonymity.
Interestingly, such a move has been made only after the Hindustan Times exposed the ticketing chaos at the OC on Friday under its report titled ‘Where are the tickets?’
Sources also confirmed that even on Saturday, thousands of unused tickets were thrown in the dustbins in OC office on the 9th floor, where all the top guns of the games have their offices.
In fact, a series of sting operations at the OC building by a section of media, in which a few volunteers, work force employees, were caught red-handed while selling complimentary tickets.
“Tickets at the Organising Committee has just become a big puzzle for all of us. Sponsors have already taken their quota of tickets, and are ready to buy more tickets too. But, no body knows where the tickets are as they aren’t available at sale counters,” said a source.
